Arbitration is a time-tested, cost-effective alternative to litigation whereby parties submit their dispute to one or more impartial persons for a decision, or award. Parties participate in a hearing at which both sides can present evidence and testimony, though typically much less than in court. Awards are made in writing and generally are final and binding on the parties in the case. With arbitration, parties have the ability to choose a neutral with subject-matter expertise in the industry of their cases.
The Arbitration section of our ADR Community is composed of several business fields that utilize arbitration in resolving disputes, where you can participate in more specialized or targeted discussions. Areas are Commercial, Construction, Labor, Employment, and International.
